  • What is a Wire Harness?


    The harness provides the overall of service equipment for a certain load source group, such as trunk line, switching device, control system, etc. The basic research content of traffic theory is to study the relationship among traffic, call loss and harness capacity. Therefore, harness is an important basic concept in traffic theory. Load source is the service object of harness, which usually refers to user equipment. Broadly speaking, the upper level equipment is the load source of the lower level equipment. In telephone communication, the load source is also called the voice source. The number of service equipment contained in the harness is called the harness capacity. The capacity of the harness is V, which serves N load sources. Any calling load source can occupy an idle service device in the harness.


    Detection and judgment of Wiring harness:

    1) Detection and judgment of wire harness burn out fault

    In the circuit of the power supply system, where the grounding point is, the wire harness will burn. The junction between the burned and intact parts can be considered as grounding. If the wire harness burns out to the wiring part of an electrical equipment, it indicates that the electrical equipment is faulty.

    2) Detection and judgment of short circuit, open circuit and poor contact between lines

    -The wire harness is squeezed and impacted by the outside, causing damage to the wire insulation layer in the wire harness, resulting in short circuit between wires.

    When judging, disconnect the wire harness connectors at both ends of the electrical equipment and the control switch, and use the electricity meter or test lamp to detect the short circuit of the line.


    -In addition to the obvious fracture phenomenon, the common faults of wire open circuit mostly occur between wires and wire terminals. After some wires are broken, the outer insulation layer and wire terminal are intact, but the inner core wire and wire terminal of the wire have been broken. When judging, the conducting wire and conductor terminal suspected of open circuit can be subject to tensile test. During the tensile test, if the conductor insulation layer gradually becomes thinner, it can be confirmed that the conductor has been open circuit.


    -The circuit has poor contact, and most of the faults occur in the connector. When the fault occurs, the electrical equipment will not work normally. When judging, connect the power supply of the electrical equipment, touch or pull the relevant connector of the electrical equipment. When touching a connector, the operation of the electrical equipment is either normal or abnormal, indicating that the connector is faulty.


    Process production of wire harness?

    The first station of harness production is the opening process. The accuracy of the opening process is directly related to the whole production progress. Once an error occurs, especially the opening size is too short, it will lead to rework of all stations, time-consuming and laborious, and affect the production efficiency.

    The second station after opening the line is the crimping process. The crimping parameters are determined according to the terminal type required by the drawing, and the crimping operation instructions are made. If there are special requirements, it is necessary to indicate them on the process documents and train the operators.

    Then comes the pre assembly process. Firstly, the pre assembly process operation manual shall be prepared. In order to improve the assembly efficiency, the pre assembly station shall be set for complex harness. If the preassembled parts are less assembled or the assembled wire path is unreasonable, the workload of the total assembly personnel will be increased.

    The final step is the final assembly process. According to the assembly platen designed by the product development department, design the specifications and dimensions of tooling equipment and material box, and stick the numbers of all assembly sheaths and accessories on the material box to improve the assembly efficiency.

    The content and quality of automotive harness in vehicle electronic technology has gradually become an important index to evaluate vehicle performance. Automobile manufacturers should pay special attention to the selection of wire harness, and it is also necessary to understand the process and production of automobile wire harness.
