hachette antoine is a joint venture between international publishing leader hachette livre of france (founded 1826) and reputed librairie antoine of lebanon (1933), which ventured into general publishing first in 1970 via its sister company naufal and again into educational publishing in 1996 via its antoine edition department. formed at the end of 2009 and catering primarily for the levant, gulf, and north africa, hachette antoine publishes arabic, french, and english schoolbooks; arabic extracurricular books, including the renowned beit al hikmat series; and arabic nonfiction original and translated works. hachette antoine also publishes an array of original and adapted general literature and children’s books under its eminent naufal imprint, mainly in arabic.
